Pokémon Sun & Moon = Disappointment

I am VERY disappointed with the new Pokémon series, Sun & Moon.

I currently play the Moon version. The game itself is very nice, & very different.

If you read my last blog about the Alolan series, then you already know what the changes consist of, & how I feel about them.

This post is going to focus on just a couple of different changes that I very much cannot stand!

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the national pokedex, as well as how to get all of the previous gens into the new series. But with good research & detective skills, I was able to get the 411 on the update.

Deep inside of the Pokémon website, they explain what changes will be coming at the beginning of January 2017.

In the new year, there will be an update coming to the Pokémon bank, which is an app for the DS console, where you can transfer Pokémon back & forth from different games. (Pokémon  bank works with X, Y, & ORAS) In order to transfer from the remade original Red, Blue, & yellow series, as well as the other games- Black, White, Black & White 2, Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum- you must use the pokemon transfer app. This update will be able to support the new series, Sun & Moon. But here’s the catch. Unlike the other games you can use in the pokemon bank, you will not be able to transfer any pokemon back after you send them into Sun or Moon. So, once you put every strong pokemon you collected in the past series, you have to basically start your game over, and lose any success you have ever created.

Another thing that really just makes me so perturbed, is the national pokedex situation. Again, unlike the previous games, there will not be a national pokedex created for Sun & Moon! Instead, the Pokemon Bank will get a new feature, where it will have a built in Pokedex. The way it will work is, it will read all of your saved data from any games that you connect with it. Now again, the only pokemon it will read will be the ones you have caught, and the only games it will read will be Sun, Moon, ORAS, X, & Y.

Why does this irritate me beyond belief? Well, the pokemon transfer app is free to use, but the Pokemon bank app, is not. It costs $4.99 a year. Yes, I know its only 5 bucks, but that’s not the issue. Every game, since the beginning of the Pokemon journey, has always had the Pokedex built in the game, for free.

Plus, I cannot stand the fact, as a Pokemon collector, that my Pokemon cannot be accounted for in one game. I literally just completed the national Pokedex for the first time in my 20 years of playing it, in ORAS (read previous post on ‘Pokemon 20’ for full details) and now it’s like it’s getting wiped away. I am the type of person that I want to see my collected achievements, but I shouldn’t have to pay 5 bucks a year to check it out. I should just be able to pop in the latest game, and see my skills.

I personally think that Gamefreak went downhill with this one. I hope that this is something they’re just experimenting with, but something tells me that they are just going to keep doing this new feature just to make more money on top of the millions that they already make from us consumers.

Beauty Tips for Sensitive Skin

If you’re anything like me, than you have some serious sensitive skin, which only seems to intensify during the cold season.

It’s something I never really paid much mind to, until the past year, to be so honest.

So me being the Aquarian that I am, I invest in a lot of creative ideas, & turn them into reality. Really, what’s wrong with a little trial and error? It was my favorite lesson in school, ha-ha.

I started out small, and worked my way into this big foundation. At first I just focused on my lotions. I use the Queen Helene Mango & Cocoa Butter hand + Body lotion- which is for normal to dry skin, as well as the Cocoa Butter face + Body crème- which is for extremely dry skin. I also use Vaseline, because we all know how Vaseline works wonders.

Still felt some sensitivity going on, so I moved on to my body washes. I used to use anything that smelt nice. But now I look for smells nice and helps moisturize the skin. So I now use Dove go fresh Nutrium moisture (Go with the blue fig & orange Blossom, you won’t regret it!)

But there’s one thing I have become addicted to! This is, in fact, my latest trial! I know that water can also effect the skin, especially since there are all kinds of minerals and bacteria in our tap water. So I took it upon myself to run some bath water, & add some Organix Coconut oil, as well as Johnson & Johnson Shea & Cocoa butter oil to the mix…Oh. Muh. Gosh!

I was not disappointed! My body feels so moisturized & so smooth! I soak in the tub for a good thirty minutes, & I make sure to include my entire body, even my hair.

Ever since I have added this to my to-do list, my skin has felt so much more relieved, & has given me peace of mind!

So, again, if you have sensitive skin like myself, then try using some of these life hacks that I have come across and see how it effects you. I know everyone is different, but like I said in the beginning, there’s nothing wrong with a little trial and error!

  • I will be traveling to Kentucky in the next few days, & while I am there, I will be experimenting with the oatmeal baths, as well as the lotions.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on how it goes!

Happy Birthday Bro <3

I don’t usually post on the weekends, but this is a special day for my family….

On this day, back in 1989, my fabulous, beautiful mother gave birth to my older brother. He looked just like me, brown hair, brown eyes, and a sassy attitude! My mother decided on the unique name, Brian. I came just shortly behind him, in January of 1992, but everyone swore up and down that we were twins.

All I know is that when I was born, Brian told my mom to put me back… See the sassiness? XD

But I know he loved me, just as much as I loved him.

He would be 27 years old today. But there was a tragic accident back in 1996, that would forever change our family’s way of life. He passed away at the age of six years old. It literally tore our family up, for some time, before everyone got a hold of themselves and found out peace again.

Every year has been hard for us to deal with, because we all lost someone so close to us, especially my mother. God bless her soul, she is legitimately the strongest person I know to walk the face of this earth.

I could not imagine what it is like to lose your child. I know what it’s like to lose a brother, a friend, a grandparent, a pet, but not a child. I can only imagine the pain that she has to endure every day, no  matter how big of a smile she puts on her beautiful face.

We talk to him, we visit him, and of course we always acknowledge him, especially when it’s his big day! I know he’s still celebrating, he’s just celebrating in heaven instead of here with us.

Brian was a special baby. He was the first child amongst the four siblings, he was the first grandchild, nephew, he was the first love of the entire family. So, when I say it shook up my entire family, it is not a dramatic speech, but quite factual.

It’s always bitter sweet, because his birthday is in December, he passed away in January, just six days before my birthday… So you can imagine how bumpy this time of the year gets for myself and my family, but we always make it work out, because that’s what family does.

Every year I toast to him, since it is his day to be celebrated. So for all of those listening, please give a special toast to him tonight, and for my mother as well, to lighten her spirits, I know she is hurting today, so lets be sure to tell her that she is beautiful, strong, loving, and that she will be ok. Brian knows that he is loved, and my mother needs to know the same!

Happy birthday Bro! You will forever be loved and missed!

– sincerely, your younger brother. ❤

Pokemon 20, Dex finally complete!

This is another ‘personal life’ kind of blog! I am too excited to keep this achievement to myself!!!

Can I just say, again, that I am a huge pokemon maniac. I have loved, collected, & played pokemon since the orginial came out in 1996.

Well, to jump right into business, this year marks the 20th anniversary, which all pokenerds already know.

As a specail kind of ‘thank you’-celebratory-gift set, the pokemon creaters set a specific mythical pokemon to drop each month this year, starting in february.

with that being said, I have collected every pokemon in every game, and transfered them down the line to the latest, which is currently Alpha Sapphire, so my pokedex read at 708 out of 721 (prior to Alola release).

Acquiring these pokemon was no easy task. Do you know how many generations it took me to get a Spiritomb? Let alone one of the mythicals? I thought I would never get them. Though I did love when the creators made it possible to catch Deoxys in the ORAS series. That’s love.

So when February rolled around, I was on it. First came Mew, then Celebi, all the way down to Genesect, then Meloetta, which is the final mythical pokemon, & it released yesterday AND is available to collect until December 24th via nintendo network! (So, tun on game system, click on mystery gift, click recieve via internet, & watch the beauty enter your life) So was 1 mythical pokemon each month, except in April, I think it was? They released Hoopa, & in October, they released Volcanion. Basically, two months out of the year, you got two mythicals!

So now, my ORAS Pokedex is 100% complete. I now have 721 out of 721, & though I have completed the other series pokedeks’, this is the official first one with every pokemon listed. When I got her, & the dex completed, I legit almost cried! In my 20 years of playing, I have finally caught them all! I must gloat a little bit, for the fact that I never cheated to get any, I waited to get them legitimately.

Now, even though Alola just dropped, I still technically have caught them all, due to the fact that I have caught the new releases in the Moon version.

But this is where horror & stress set in. I’m not sure how they’re going to do the national dex in Sun and Moon. There are talks in the streets that the creators will not be adding a national dex to the Alola series, & that instead, the dex will be located in the Pokemon Bank application- an app where you can transfer pokemon between games…

Which brings me to yet ANOTHER stressful problem. There are also talks in the streets that once you transfer your pokemon from other games into Sun & Moon, you will not be able to transfer them back.. This is actually a first between the DS games. I don’t like that, for the fact that I have collected a lot of shiny pokemon on my Alpha version, that I might want to keep working on that one, yet all the pokemon on the Alpha version are the ones I would transfer to my Moon version.

UGH!!!! Decisions, decisions. I guess it’s a good thing the Pokemon bank wont have the update to transfer to Sun & Moon until January, so I have time to figure it out.

Where are my PokeNerds at?!?! What are your stats? Any ideas on what I should do about the hassle of completing the moon Pokedex?

The Pipeline Monster

‘You can’t drink oil, keep it in the soil!”

Many tribes have come together from all over the nation to take a stand & fight for their sacred land against the Dakoa Access Pipeline, which could potentially destroy their natural, clean drinking water. The pipeline would in fact run directly though their sacred lands and water systems.

There have been many documentary short films based on three tribes alone, in the Dakota pipeline protest, which are the Chiricahua Apache, Dine, & the Standing Rock Sioux Tribes. The voices of these young adults, pleeding and fighting to keep their lands safe for their future generations, cannot & should not go unnoticed.

“It’s the worst thing that can actually go through here,” says Samuel Evering, who is part of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

Water is a source to everything living, & at any time the pipeline could break, contaminating their reliable sources of fresh water. What will the children & the adults have to drink if it were to become contaminated & undrinkable? To protect the water is to legitimately protect human life itself!

Hundreds of veterans also plan to join the peaceful protesters in the fight to stop the pipeline. Michael A. Woods Jr., is a former Baltimore police officer, as well as a veteran of the military. He is also the one planning the trip. Thousands of people, veterans & non veterans, have already signed up to join him! They have already accumilated an astounding $250,000.

Woods said, “if the police want to be state sanctioned agents to brutually beat non violent veterans, people who have fought to protect this country, then that should be a signal to the rest of the world of what this country’s doing.”

Some well known faces have also joined the cause. The Divergent star actress, Shailene Woodly, has been down for the protest since day one. She was even arrested for it. Her arrest did not dim her fire, but instead made it burn brighter. She is still an active advocate to this day.

Neil Young has also demanded that President Obama ‘end the violence’ a the Dakota pipeline protest.

Other celebrity advocates include: Leonardo Dicaprio, Pharrell Williams, & Mark Ruffalo.

The pipeline has been approved to begin being constructed. This pipeline will reach 1,170 miles, at a price of $3.7 billion. The pipeline will transfer around 570,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It wil begin in the Bakken region of North Dakota, go through South Dakota & Iowa, ending right across the Missouri River, in Illinois.

Personal View

I will loudly and proudly state that I stand with the protesters.

I think that we have plenty of pipelines in this country already, which really baffles me. I saw someone upload a picture of all the pipelines with a caption of “I’m confused, which pipeline are you concerned about?” The reason this bothered me is the fact that this person could downplay the pain and suffering that these people are feeling. So let me break it down for you, if you’re like the person I just mentioned above…

  1. First of all, just because you didn’t protest the one in your backyard, doesn’t mean that these people have to roll over & play dead like you.
  2. The map of all the pipelines we have in this country, should be used as an accurate support system for the protesters, not as ammunition against them. If we really have as many pipelines as the map stated, then why do we need another one?
  3. Do we really need to pollute more of this world, especially when its in our own backyard? What about your children? Or the Future of this nation?
  4. Do I really need to remind you of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill back in 2010 that we’re still paying for to this day? Yeah, imagine if that was happening every othe day.
  5. We have so much technology to go Bio Green Energy, yet we keep sitting in the past, making everything ugly & difficult. I’d rather see solar panel and Solar mills, instead of these unnecessary pipelines.

How do you feel about the pipeline? Do you think its necessary? Or are you more concerned about the people of this nation?
